After many years on the forbidden fruit list, the Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R is fair game in America. Nissan is better known for affordable, reliable hatchbacks and its successful range of crossovers and SUVs than extreme, high-performance cars, but every now and then it breaks the mould. Both GT-Rs are great handlers, courtesy of Nissan's famed ATTESA ET-S all-wheel drive system.

Externally, small V-Spec II” badges and a large bi-plane” rear wing differentiate this Skyline from lesser models. Production of the R34 Skyline GT-R finally ended in 2002, although NISMO continued to build very limited numbers of bespoke tuned Z-Tune models until 2005.

Running major amounts of negative camber on the 11-inch wide front wheels and belching fire from their side-exit exhausts, the cars devour the tarmac, decorated in iconic liveries. She moved on to a 400- horsepower RX3 coupe and an FD RX7 S1 before finding her way behind the wheel of a 550-horsepower, RB25DET-swapped R32 Skyline GTS-t.

Fondly known as the Hakosuka (box Skyline,” chassis code KPGC10), the 1971 Skyline was the first to wear the world-renowned GT-R badge—for gran turismo racer—signifying that this was no run-of-the-mill Skyline GT. The inspiration for the GT-R was an early race special based on a regular, previous-generation S50 Skyline 2000GT that credibly competed with a specially-constructed Porsche 904 GTS in the 1964 Japanese Grand Prix, finishing second, amazing everyone involved and giving Porsche a scare.

The car is loaded with a massive 6 cylinder 3799 cc engine which runs at a power of 570 PS @ 6800 rpm giving out a maximum torque of 637 Nm @ 3300-5800 rpm. While essentially a rear-wheel-drive car, up 50 percent of engine torque can transfer to the front wheels when required; the hydraulically activated system Nissan Skyline GT-R using the ABS sensors to detect rear-wheel slip.
